Today was Ken's last chemo treatment and we all did the happy dance!! It's hard to believe these treatments have come to an end. Up until this weekend, you would never know to look at Ken that he has cancer. His hair loss is the only outward sign that the chemo is doing its job. I know that he is very anxious for the CT scan, and waiting is not one of his strong points, but these things can't be rushed.
These last four months have been the toughest times we have gone through together. We've prayed and cried and even laughed at times, but have made it so far and will continue to together, no matter what the future holds.
I have faith that the doctors and nurses have seen enough to know what signs to look for, pain, bleeding, difficulty breathing, huge weight loss etc, to see that Ken is beating this. Thanks to all of you who read his blogs and continue to encourage and reassure him, and me. It's been an important part of the healing process. I hope you have enjoyed his perspective of what he calls "his first rodeo".
This month will be exciting as we welcome our new granddaughter, due within the next 2 weeks. Such a happy and exciting time!!
Thanks again for all your support
Joann

Ken and Joann,
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad to hear Ken had his final chemo treatment Tuesday.Happy days are ahead!!! I'm sure he is excited to see his new granddaughter!!! As far as Ken's patience in waiting, remind him how long he could wait for a walleye to bite!!!
Your in our thoughts and prayers,
Ed and Janeene
So glad to hear from the other half of this team...we all know what rock you've been for Ken during this whole ordeal. We can only stand by and be the cheerleaders, while you and Ken do all the hard work. So glad it's over for both of you. We continue to pray for you and can't wait to see that baby girl!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, girlfriend! You certainly have a way with words. I know how difficult this has been for both of you; so glad the final treatment is finished. Now we wait...
ReplyDeleteI hope that you continue to be the cheerful, kind and caring "nurse" to your hubby...you are doing a GREAT job!
Love ya,
Deb
Ken & Joann,
ReplyDeleteKnow you have been and continue to be in our thoughts & prayers. We are with you in spirit and look for good reports from the doctors. Ken, from personal experience, Chemo Ain't Fun!! But it's over and now you can be back in charge!! We all need the dark days to truly celebrate the sunny "happy places" in our hearts.
We're proud of you both! Keep it up!
Carl & Betty
Hi you two!
ReplyDeleteYou finished the last cocktail....you did it!!! and I would bet money (if I had some) that IT did it's job too! Come Ct Scan report time I think you will be hearing some good news and be able to finally breathe a big sigh of relief.... be patient till test time (although it will be hard) and just focus on cute little Avery and the new little gal coming and of course that "hot gal" you speak of (joann) :)
Looking forward to posts and pictures of that new granddaughter when she arrives....it's going to be a fun summer at the cottage with all these little ones that us grandmas and grandpa have. Hey, did you like the "clothing drive" email..hehehe!!

I have read these last two blogs several times and I cry every time I do - damn these hormones! You two have made it, you did it, and even though I know it wasn't easy, you didn't give up! Not much longer til that final exam and then looking forward to the rest of your "strong" lives! I don't know if you consider yourself superheroes but to me you are Superman and WonderWoman - I love you guys!
