Week two begins

Joann came back from Port Austin with the idea of creating a BLOG, so here we go. Hopefully this will last only 7 weeks which is the length of my treatment plan, for now.
This BLOG will summarize what we're going through and my spin on it's effects that hopefully I (and you) can look back on in the years to come, when all this is just a bad memory. Please don't let my humor lead you to believe I'm taking this disease lightly. I'm not. Fact is I've been scared shitless ever since we got the news last September. Pictured is one of many reasons I've decided to beat this disease. Talk to you again tomorrow.

  4. Thanks for sending me the link Ken. I'm keeping positive thoughts and prayers for you. In response to your request for off-color jokes, since I just started back to work I thought this one was appropriate.

    Dear Employee:

As a result of the reduction of money budgeted for department areas, we are forced to cut down on our number of personnel.

Under this plan, older employees will be asked to take early retirement, thus permitting the retention of younger people who represent our future. Therefore, a program to phase out older personnel by the end of the current fiscal year, via retirement, will be placed into effect immediately.

This program will be known as SLAP (Sever Late-Aged Personnel). Employees who are SLAPPED will be given the opportunity to look for jobs outside the company. SLAPPED employees can request a review of their employment records before actual retirement takes place. This review phase of the program is called SCREW.

SCREW (Survey of Capabilities of Retired Early Workers). All employees who have been SLAPPED and SCREWED may file an appeal with upper management. This appeal is called SHAFT (Study by Higher Authority Following Termination).

Under the terms of the new policy, an employee may be SLAPPED once, SCREWED twice, but may be SHAFTED as many times as the company deems appropriate.

If an employee follows the above procedure, he/she will be entitled to get: HERPES (Half Earnings for Retired Personnel's Early Severance) or CLAP (Combined Lump sum Assistance Payment). As HERPES and CLAP are considered benefit plans, any employee who has received HERPES or CLAP will no longer be SLAPPED or SCREWED by the company.

Management wishes to assure the younger employees who remain on board that the company will continue its policy of training employees through our:

Special High Intensity Training (SHIT). We take pride in the amount of SHIT our employees receive. We have given our employees more SHIT than any company in this area. If any employee feels they do not receive enough SHIT on the job, see your immediate supervisor.

Your supervisor is specially trained to make sure you receive all the SHIT you can stand.

And, once again, thanks for all your years of service with us.

  5. Great idea, Ken. You can keep us all informed with what's happening, and you don't have to keep repeating the same thing over and over again (tho Dad seems to like it) Stay positive and know we are all praying and pulling for you! ooxx

  6. Happy Veterans Day Dad. Katie just handed me a piece of paper and said "your dad has a blogspot" I didn't even know what that was, and what's more impressive is that you figured this out. I think you've been sandbagging us for a while now on this whole email thing. Have fun with Av tonight..

  7. Hey Ken,
I like the blog, even though I wasn't sure what one was...thought it was a side effect of the treatment. I hope you're taking it easy on my girlfriend or I'll have to come over and kick some butt! Seriously, this is a great way to keep us all in the loop. Love ya and we enjoyed the picture of you and Avery!!

  8. Hi Ken,
Joann's idea of you having a blog is a great one! You will beat this ugly disease and come summer we'll all be on the beach celebrating your victory with a cocktail (and not the kind you're having now!) We're glad you included us in on this. Joe and Lorraine
I've been trying to post this for a couple hours....finally had to get some help from Joe.
